Key Points

  • Higher levels of cFGF23 and iFGF23 correlate with lower proximal femur PDFF, particularly at the femoral neck.
  • The study measured adiposity at specific sites, including the proximal femur and lumbar spine, finding site-specific relationships.
  • Observational analysis focused on post-menopausal women and their proximal femur adipose content.
  • These findings suggest that FGF23 may play a role in regulating marrow adiposity, but additional research is needed.

Abstract

An inverse association was found between cFGF23, iFGF23, and proximal femur PDFF (particularly femoral neck PDFF), but not with lumbar spine PDFF. Moreover, cFGF23 and iFGF23 levels were not associated with other adipose deposits.
