Analysis reveals evolutionary relationships of Leptobotia bellacauda, suggesting taxonomic implications.
The complete mitochondrial genome of Leptobotia bellacauda was sequenced and characterized for the first time. The mitogenome was a 16,591 bp circular molecule, including 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes, two ribosomal RNA genes (rRNA), and a control region. Nucleotide composition: 24.4% A, 30.6% T, 28.6% C, and 16.4% G. Phylogenetic analysis confirmed the evolutionary position of L. bellacauda within its congeneric species and indicated that L. bellacauda was more closely related to L. punctata. This study provides crucial molecular biological evidence for investigating the taxonomy and phylogeny of L. bellacauda, and enhances our understanding of the molecular phylogeny and evolution of the genus Leptobotia.
