Qualitative ethnographic study reveals improved health outcomes in Zanzibar, suggesting broader applications for Togo.
Zanzibar rural villages in Tanzania have implemented community-led water sanitation projects to improve hygiene and reduce waterborne diseases. A qualitative ethnographic study was conducted using participant observation, interviews, and focus group discussions among Zanzibar villagers. Community satisfaction with water quality increased by 85% after the sanitation projects were implemented. The community-led approach to water sanitation in Zanzibar rural villages has significantly improved local health outcomes. Scaling up these successful models could lead to broader improvements in hygiene and disease prevention across Togo's rural areas. water sanitation, community engagement, health improvement, ethnography
