Examines how parental and teacher modelling influences self-directed learning ability in university students, suggesting improvements for educational practices.
HRMARS - This study explores the relationship between the self-directed learning ability of university students in three universities in Shandong Province, China, and the behaviors of their parents and teachers. The aim of this study is to investigate the correlation of parental modelling and teacher modelling on the development of self-directed learning ability among university students, particularly in the academically rich environment of Shandong Province. For this purpose, researchers proposed five research questions and four research hypotheses, employing various statistical methods and utilizing SPSS (version 27) statistical software for data analysis. The results of this study show that parental modelling and teacher modelling are closely related to the change of university students’ self-directed learning ability. The results also indicate that self-directed learning ability among university students in Shandong, China is moderate. Age was a significant factor in this regard, while gender was not significant. Furthermore, the findings provide insights for improving self-directed learning ability among university students.
