Proposal evaluates a control method for balancing power supply and demand in a rural microgrid, suggesting effective renewable integration.
This paper proposes a control method to minimize exchange with the power grid throughout the year within a rural microgrid that incorporates biogas power generation (BG), secondary-use storage batteries, and farmer demand. The proposed control method determines the design of LIB capacity and BG output power, as well as the step sequence for varying BG output power based on the LIB state of charge. This paper demonstrates how the proposed control method achieves power supply and demand balancing through a Model-in-the-Loop (MIL) simulation evaluation using one year of continuous demand data, confirming semi-off-grid operation during long-term operation.
