The application of flexibility solutions such as Demand-Side Management (DSM) strategies to electric power systems leads to various advantages, playing a key role towards the energy transition especially for autonomous electric grids and islands. This paper presents the procedure used to assess the DSM potential on the two pilot islands, Cyprus (Republic of) and Lampedusa (Italy), including some interim results, as part of the DSM4islands research project funded by the CETPartnership. As an example, the load profiles of three different assets of an industrial facility on Cyprus were analysed to conceptualize DSM potential in a simplified manner. The results show that specifically one of the assets shows a significant potential to be included in DSM schemes. The results of the potential analysis will be used to create a model that evaluates the technical and economic benefits of DSM on the two pilot islands. This will serve as the base for developing a DSM scheme that can be replicated and scaled to islands of different sizes and climates.
