Qualitative analysis reveals abuse experiences of disabled women, suggesting a need for increased awareness and support.
This thesis explores the experiences and knowledge of abuse among a sample of nine physically disabled women in Nova Scotia. Using a feminist perspective, incorporating disability scholarship within its framework, the situation of these women is examined. Qualitative findings and available literature clearly indicate that disabled women encounter various types of abuse by a number of people but is most pronounced by those in positions of trust and exercising caregiving roles.
