Analysis of Bimo artworks reveals distinct animal imagery, highlighting cultural significance and Aesthetic Value.
The animal imagery in Bimo paintings features distinctive forms, embodying profound aesthetic value and cultural significance. This study analyzes Bimo artworks through pattern and textual analysis, synthesizing Yi ethnic ancient texts to examine artistic characteristics including composition, line work, color schemes, and structural design. The research reveals that Liangshan Yi Bimo paintings exhibit distinct features: clear structural forms, naive lines, minimalist colors, and harmonious compositions. The "bone painting" technique reflects the Yi people's intuitive thinking, while animal motifs drawn from creation legends and ancestral worship demonstrate their genealogical consciousness. These diverse animal depictions vividly illustrate the Yi people's animistic worldview, depicting a harmonious coexistence between humans and nature. Studying these artistic features and religious connotations can contribute to preserving intangible cultural heritage and promoting cultural integration within the Chinese national community.
