Case reports highlight the significance of careful management of eye muscle injuries in children.
We report a rare case of lateral rectus (LR) injury in a case of conjunctival nevus excision and traumatic LR disinsertion in the postoperative patient of squint surgery. In our first case, 13-year-old female had a bulbar conjunctival nevus which when removed had iatrogenic transected LR muscle. The second case is of 10-year-old girl with a history of ocular trauma and previous strabismus surgery, postoperatively, she developed a rare episode of LR muscle disinsertion following minor trauma. Prompt surgical exploration and re-insertion of the muscle restored ocular alignment and function. These cases highlights the importance of meticulous evaluation and timely management of extraocular muscle trauma in previously operated eyes.
