Choosing a career is a pivotal decision for undergraduate students in their final year, as it has a lasting impact on both their professional trajectory and personal growth. This study explores the factors influencing the career choices of final-year students at Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts & Science, Coimbatore. It seeks to identify the major determinants affecting students’ career decisions, with a focus on personal interests, skills, self-confidence, family background, parental expectations, socio-economic status, academic achievement, course specialization, and the institutional environment. The study also examines the influence of external factors such as employment opportunities, job market trends, and salary expectations on students’ career preferences. Given the diverse academic and socio-economic backgrounds of students at the institution, many encounter challenges including uncertainty, external pressure, and a lack of clear direction, even with access to career guidance and placement support. By analysing the individual and combined effects of these factors on career decision-making, the study aims to offer insights to strengthen career counselling services, improve student readiness, and promote better alignment between students’ skills, aspirations, and chosen career paths.
