Analysis reveals modes of symbolic system failure in multiple global conflicts, suggesting urgent rebuilding strategies.
The Deep Symbolic Systems Model (DSSM) is applied to five concurrent global crises of 2025–2026: the Russia–Ukraine war, the Gaza conflict, the US–Israel–Iran war, the US–China AI race, and the fragmentation of global governance. Drawing on the DSSM's core finding that human civilization was built through the recursive stabilization of symbolic systems — rituals, institutions, and protocols that encode behavior across generations — the paper argues that each crisis represents a different mode of symbolic system failure. Monumentality, writing, law, and governance are reframed as fossilized rituals; their current erosion is diagnosed not as moral failure but as structural breakdown. The paper identifies the Iran conflict as the most acute case of symbolic containment collapse currently underway, traces the Strait of Hormuz closure as material symbolic warfare, and offers engineering-level prescriptions for rebuilding containment architecture across all five theaters.
