Site HaRl-4, the Rocky Mountain Portage House, which is part of a North West Company fort and trading outpost occupied between approximately 1805 and 1814, is located approximately 75m southeast of the Peace River near its confluence with Maurice Creek. HaRl-49 is situated inland from HaRl-4 on a bench overlooking the Peace river. Four flaked lithics from HaRl-4 and one flaked lithic from HaRl-49 were submitted for protein residue analysis to identify their use. One bone tool from HaRl-4 was submitted for AMS radiocarbon dating, as were two samples containing charred botanics.
