Case report shows isotretinoin controls Darier disease and folliculitis decalvans, indicating multitarget effects on inflammation and microbiota.
Darier disease (DD) and folliculitis decalvans (FD) are rare coexisting conditions that pose therapeutic challenges. We report a 38-year-old male with DD and FD who achieved lasting control with isotretinoin (20 mg/day) and sulfamethoxazole–trimethoprim after previous treatments provided only temporary relief. Isotretinoin’s anti-inflammatory and keratolytic effects improved both conditions by targeting shared mechanisms and modulating the microbiota. This case highlights isotretinoin’s role as a multitarget therapy for managing DD and FD.
