Visual culture plays a significant role in shaping identity among youth in South Africa, reflecting broader social, cultural, and historical contexts. No empirical data were collected; this is a theoretical exploration grounded in existing literature on youth identity formation in African contexts. This study highlights the dynamic interplay between visual expressions and identity formation among young people in South African settings. Further research should focus on longitudinal studies to track changes in youth identities over time and explore intersectional factors influencing these dynamics.
