Rwanda has made significant progress in improving sanitation and hygiene practices through various campaigns, but there is limited research on how these improvements affect school outcomes. The study employs a qualitative approach, analysing WASH campaigns' effectiveness through interviews with educators, parents, and students from selected schools across different regions of Rwanda. The findings suggest that comprehensive WASH education programmes can be effective in boosting school attendance and improving learning outcomes among primary school children in rural Rwandan settings. Local authorities should prioritise integrating WASH education into curricula and continue supporting these initiatives as part of a broader strategy to enhance educational quality in rural areas.
