This review explores tribological properties of PTFE composites at varying temperatures, suggesting optimized designs for extreme conditions.
Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a critical solid lubricant whose low friction originates from its distinctive molecular structure, yet its tribological performance is intrinsically governed by temperature. This review systematically examines the evolution of the tribological properties in PTFE composites across a wide temperature range. The review first establishes the material basis by characterizing unreinforced PTFE and its composites, then elucidates the underlying thermomechanical and physicochemical mechanisms driving their temperature‐dependent behaviors. By synthesizing findings from the literature, this work provides a coherent framework for designing advanced PTFE composites tailored for extreme thermal environments.
