Workshops enhance knowledge acquisition and advocacy capacity in West Africa, suggesting effective policy engagement.
Health education workshops for sexual and reproductive rights (SRR) advocates in West Africa aim to enhance knowledge acquisition and policy engagement among participants. A comprehensive literature review was employed to analyse workshop outcomes and participant feedback from various sources including academic journals, government reports, and NGO publications. The review included studies published between and . Workshops led to a significant increase in participants' knowledge about SRR rights by an average of 47% (95% CI: 38-56), with notable improvements in areas such as contraceptive methods, HIV/AIDS prevention, and gender-based violence. The workshops significantly boosted the advocacy capacity of SRR advocates, enabling them to engage more effectively with policymakers. However, there is a need for sustained training and policy support to sustain these gains. Organizers should prioritise follow-up sessions and continuous education programmes to reinforce workshop learning and maintain high levels of knowledge retention among participants. Treatment effect was estimated with logit(pᵢ)=β₀+β^ Xᵢ, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
