In the present communication, a species of Russula ( R. punjabensis ) belonging to Russula subg. Compactae has been described from Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, India. This taxon is presented here as a new record for the Indian mycota. Detailed morphological descriptions, color photographs, line drawings, and molecular phylogeny are provided.
