Retrospective cohort study comparing acitretin and bexarotene effects on mycosis fungoides, suggesting acitretin as effective.
In this retrospective cohort of 81 patients with mycosis fungoides treated with oral acitretin, overall response rate was 60.6% (9% complete, 52% partial) and median time to next treatment was around 23–24 months in moderate/high-dose groups. Adverse events were infrequent and no cases of hypothyroidism were observed. These findings support acitretin as a well-tolerated, accessible systemic retinoid option for patients with mycosis fungoides.
