Presentation discusses enhancements in FAIR metadata mappings for Heliophysics, indicating infrastructure gaps.
Presentation given to the March 2026 ESIP Data Stewardship Committee Meeting by Zach Boquet and Rebecca Ringuette on March 9, 2026. This presentation is a continuation/updated version of the previous presentations cited (10.5281/zenodo.16415091, 10.5281/zenodo.15683750, 10.5281/zenodo.15594513), contains parts of the posters cited (10.5281/zenodo.17372738, 10.5281/zenodo.17101340), and builds upon other works (10.5281/zenodo.16643096, 10.5281/zenodo.18685086, 10.60872/makespiralreport, 10.48322/6cfb-rq65). This presentation summarizes the motivation, process, improvements/results, and next steps related to HDRL improving their existing mappings from the international standard for Heliophysics metadata, SPASE, to both Schema.org and DataCite. Other topics covered include comparing the Schema.org and DataCite metadata schemas as reference metadata schemas and an exploration of the discovered infrastructure gaps.
