Key Points

  • Investigate the relationship between lipoprotein(a) levels, atherosclerotic plaque burden, and cardiovascular outcomes in coronary artery disease.
  • Analyzed patients with established atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD)
  • Examined associations between Lp(a) levels and plaque burden
  • Assessed long-term mortality and cardiac events
  • Higher Lp(a) levels were linked to increased plaque burden
  • No significant association with long-term mortality or cardiac adverse events was found

Abstract

Among patients with established ASCVD, Lp(a) was associated with plaque burden, supporting evidence that relates Lp(a) to atherosclerotic disease. However, Lp(a) was not associated with long-term mortality or cardiac adverse events in these patients.
