Mixed-methods approach reveals vocational training boosts employability in young migrants, suggesting economic stability may improve.
Young migrants in Lagos face challenges related to livelihood security, necessitating effective vocational training programmes. A mixed-methods approach was employed, including surveys, interviews, and focus groups among young migrants in Lagos. Young migrants who participated in vocational training reported a significant increase in job opportunities (35%) compared to those not trained, indicating improved livelihood security. Vocational training programmes have the potential to enhance economic stability for young migrants in Lagos by increasing their employability and reducing unemployment rates. Governments and NGOs should prioritise vocational training initiatives that align with local labour market needs and support long-term career development opportunities for young migrants.
