Geophysical interpretations reveal giant impacts shape early energy transport in Earth's mantle, impacting dynamics.
Use këtë tekst në fushën Description: This work explores a geophysical interpretation of the Moon-forming giant impact and its potential influence on the early internal dynamics of the Earth. The study proposes that the impact responsible for the formation of the Moon may have occurred in a region corresponding approximately to the present-day South Atlantic (~40°S, 20°W). Beyond lunar formation, such an event may have contributed to establishing an early energetic architecture within Earth’s mantle. Two complementary mechanisms are considered: • vertical energy transport through mantle plumes • lateral redistribution of thermal energy along mantle-scale instability zones The interaction between these mechanisms may form a coupled system influencing long-term mantle dynamics, plume generation, and volcanic activity. This work integrates the giant impact scenario with geophysical interpretations of mantle structure and planetary evolution.
