Editor’s note and erratum for the Research Article “Neurexin-2: An inhibitory neurexin that restricts excitatory synapse formation in the hippocampus” by P.-Y. Lin et al.

On 6 January 2023, Science Advances published the Research Article “Neurexin-2: An inhibitory neurexin that restricts excitatory synapse formation in the hippocampus” by P.-Y. Lin et al. (1). On 1 October 2025, an Editorial Expression of Concern (2) alerted readers that comments on PubPeer noted that the n’s reported in Fig. 3B were not consistent with the n’s in the raw data in the Stanford Digital Repository (SDR). The authors completed a reanalysis and all concerns related to Figure 3 have been addressed. While there may be an ongoing debate around leak currents, the authors’ original results are maintained and therefore Science Advances has removed the Editorial Expression of Concern. An Erratum (3) has been published to address other issues raised on Pubpeer. The journal has posted this notification in its place to indicate the editors’ confidence in the Research Article’s data and conclusions.
