Abstract Benign urinary bladder tumors are uncommon, and urinary retention is an unusual presentation of these tumors. Leiomyoma, the most common benign mesenchymal bladder tumor, has an extremely low overall incidence. We present a three-case series of women who developed urinary retention due to an undetected leiomyoma of the urinary bladder. This series highlights the clinical presentation, radiologic and histopathologic features, and the surgical management of benign urinary bladder tumors that may mimic malignant bladder outlet obstruction.
