This research aims to identify and characterize the pathogen causing a novel leaf blight on Corydalis yanhusuo in Zhejiang Province, China.
Collected symptomatic leaves from diseased plants in Zhejiang Province.
Performed morphological and molecular characterization of the pathogen isolate YH-7.
Constructed a phylogenetic tree using ITS, TEF1-α, and GAPDH gene sequences.
Conducted pathogenicity testing by inoculating healthy plants with a conidial suspension of YH-7.
Identified YH-7 as Alternaria alternata based on morphological and molecular characteristics.
Observed field disease incidences of 65%, 50%, and 40% in different regions.
Inoculated plants displayed typical brown lesions similar to those in the field after 15 days.
Confirmed pathogenicity by reisolating A. alternata from symptomatic leaves, fulfilling Koch’s postulates.
