Surveys analyze the impact of Afrofuturism on cultural heritage and technology in Togo, indicating potential advancements.
Afrofuturism is an interdisciplinary field that explores African cultural heritage through a lens of science fiction and technology. A survey was conducted with a sample size of 500 participants across various socio-economic backgrounds in Togo. The questionnaire included closed-ended questions and open-ended prompts related to futuristic scenarios and technology impacts. Participants expressed interest in personalized healthcare technologies, renewable energy solutions, and automation in agriculture, with a significant proportion (42%) indicating they would prefer to live in a technologically advanced society over maintaining traditional agricultural practices. The findings suggest that Afrofuturism can be an effective tool for understanding the intersection of cultural heritage and technological advancement in African societies. Further research should explore the socio-economic implications of these futuristic visions on Togolese communities and consider how to bridge gaps between envisioned technology and actual implementation.
