Nonpharmacological and Alternative Management of Restless Legs Syndrome

Restless legs syndrome (RLS) is a common neurological sleep disorder with a high global prevalence, yet it remains frequently underdiagnosed.As a result, a considerable proportion of patients fail to receive timely and adequate treatment.While pharmacological therapy represents a cornerstone of management, nonpharmacological interventions constitute an essential component for optimizing clinical outcomes.Behavioral approaches and other strategies beyond dopaminergic agonists or alpha-2-delta ligands have shown significant potential in improving sleep quality and, consequently, overall quality of life in affected individuals.This article provides a comprehensive review of these alternative approaches, focusing on their proposed mechanisms of action and outlining potential pathways for their clinical application.
