Redo-TAVR successfully bridges a patient with complex CHD and recurrent valve degeneration to heart transplantation.
Why the study?
Early-onset structural valve degeneration after prior TAVR reinterventions represents a challenging condition to manage.
Redo-TAVR may be utilized as a bridge to heart transplantation in patients with complex congenital heart disease and recurrent structural valve degeneration.
Supports redo-TAVR as bridge to transplant in complex congenital heart disease; hypothesis-generating and requires further study.
Early-onset structural valve degeneration (SVD) after prior transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) reinterventions is a challenging condition to manage. We describe a case of a 31-year-old male with a history of complex congenital heart disease, who had a prior surgical valve replacement (SAVR) in his early twenties followed by a TAVR in his late twenties for SVD of his surgical bioprosthetic valve. He then presented again with SVD of his transcatheter heart valve and, due to underlying co-morbidities, underwent redo-TAVR as a bridge to heart transplantation.
