Computations assess visual distortion from spectacle lens warpage, implying significance for prescription standards.
Computations have been made to study the refractive errors resulting from the cylindrical warpage of spectacle lenses, especially for the one diopter tolerance specified in the prescription lens standard ANSI Z80–1‐72. Particular attention has been given to calculating and illustrating graphically the magnitude and form of the distortion of visual space. As a basis for assessing the visual effect of such distortion, similar computations have been made for a range of typical prescriptions.
