A new phenomenology for trace-coupled cosmological wormholes is introduced in the context of f(ℛ, T) gravity. This formulation employs fresh notations, a new “trace coupled” parameter λ and a portal factor 𝒯 p to encode the exchange of matter geometry in both static wormhole throats and homogeneous cosmology. Traversable wormholes sustained by trace coupling without exotic uids are constructed. The wormhole shape function is generated in three simple forms of the energy density ρ(r), such as the vacuum, the constant density, and the power law density. The possibility of traversable wormholes is discussed in all these three cases considering static trace coupled parameter λ and portal factor 𝒯 p , as well as in their dynamic case. As the square of both the radial and tangential velocity of sound through the medium lies in the range 0,1, it is evident from the stability analysis that the wormhole model is stable and traversable, in the presence of the trace-coupling parameter λ and the portal factor 𝒯 p . Results are highly indicative that can distinguish trace-coupled wormholes from black holes.
