Case report reveals effective management of hypoglycemia in a patient with gastrointestinal stromal tumor, suggesting the need for complex treatment strategies.
We present a rare case of non‐islet cell tumor hypoglycemia (NICTH) in a 52‐year‐old female with metastatic gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST). Her hypoglycemia worsened alongside her disease burden, reaching Grade 4 and mirroring the rapid progression of her cancer. Despite multiple lines of therapy, she experienced profound fasting and nocturnal hypoglycemia due to elevated serum insulin‐like growth factor 2 (IGF‐2). Stabilization of blood glucose levels was achieved with growth hormone therapy. This case highlights the complexity of NICTH in GIST and outlines a multidisciplinary treatment strategy in managing these complex presentations.
