Colorimetry is a technique based on Beer–Lambert’s law and applied to various fields of science to determine the concentration of substances. In this demonstration, two alternative colorimeters based on Duboscq’s colorimeter are built and tested. The alternative colorimeters demonstrated good performance when compared with tests conducted on a commercial spectrophotometer, suggesting that they could be used in high school and introductory science classes in higher education.
