Scoping review demonstrates positive relationship between ICT infrastructure and economic growth in Ethiopia, suggesting the need for targeted regional investments.
ICT infrastructure development is critical for economic growth in developing countries like Ethiopia. A systematic search strategy across multiple databases was employed using predefined inclusion/exclusion criteria to identify relevant studies. The analysis revealed that there is a positive but variable relationship between ICT infrastructure development and GDP per capita growth in Ethiopia, with some regions showing stronger correlations than others. While the overall impact of ICT infrastructure on economic growth in Ethiopia is significant, regional disparities suggest further targeted investments to maximise benefits. Future research should focus on understanding the specific mechanisms through which ICT influences economic performance and developing strategies for equitable access across regions. Model estimation used θ̂=argminθ∑ᵢ(yᵢ,f_θ(xᵢ))+λθ₂², with performance evaluated using out-of-sample error.
