Experimental investigation reveals fixation disparity affects stereo-acuity, indicating a complex relationship.
It is hypothesized that fixation disparity does play an important role in impairing stereo‐acuity. The basis for this hypothesis is discussed, as well as the apparatus and procedure used in the investigation. The experimental data are given, and it is seen that there is an increase in stereothreshold (decrease in stereo‐acuity) as fixation disparity is increased, although the relationship is not simple linear one, but is rather complex. Some sources of error and suggestions for further research are then given.
