Clinical exam reveals links between visual function and reading performance in institutionalized juveniles, suggesting interventions may be needed.
A clinical optometric examination was given to two groups of teen‐agers. The experimental group were institutionalized juveniles who were demonstrated poor achieves in reading. The second group were good achievers in public schools. A relationship appeared to be found between a low positive relative accommondation finding and poor readers. A low relative accommodative range also appeared to be significant with poor readers.
