Systematic literature review reveals benefits and challenges of IoT and geospatial analytics in farming, suggesting collaborative solutions.
The integration of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies and geospatial analytics in precision farming is examined in this systematic literature review, with an emphasis on the technologies’ present ises, effects, difficulties, and potential developments. Through the synthesis of data from reviewed and current sources, the study offers a comprehensive perspective of how these technologies are changing agricultural operations. Based on the results, real-time monitoring, resource efficiency, and agricultural productivity are greatly increased when IoT tools - such soil moisture sensors and Arduino-based systems - are paired with geospatial technologies like GPS, GIS, and remote sensing. However, expensive prices, low levels of digital literacy, inadequate infrastructure in rural areas, and worries about data privacy are impending the adoption of these advancements. Despite these difficulties, the continuous development and low cost of digital tools point to a promising future for wider use. In order to overcome adoption barriers and fully utilize smart farming for sustainable agriculture, this analysis emphasizes the necessity of cooperation between governments, tech developers, and agricultural partners.
