Key Points

  • To evaluate how a three-month response to albumin treatment can inform prognosis for patients with decompensated cirrhosis and ascites.
  • Participants monitored for ascites response over three months
  • Patients categorized into three groups based on their response
  • Clinical outcomes assessed and compared among categorized groups
  • Identified distinct clinical courses based on ascites response
  • Showed different prognoses for each patient category
  • Enhanced clinical decision-making for managing ascites in patients

Abstract

Using a 3 month stratification according to the ascites response of LTA, patients can be grouped into three categories with different clinical courses and outcomes. This may help to stratify prognosis and inform clinical discussions on the management of ascites by integrating LTA with other available options.
