Off‐axis streak retinoscopy is analyzed in terms of the velocity of the reflex motion in the meridian being scoped. A single equation which relates the velocity of the reflex motion to the optical parameters of the eye for both on and off‐axis meridians is given. A graph is presented which shows how the off‐axis behavior merges smoothly into the on‐axis behavior.
