Descriptive survey assesses technological readiness of hospitality students, suggesting curriculum enhancements for effective training.
Despite the hospitality industry’s widespread use of property management systems (PMS) such as Opera and Fidelio, fresh graduates often lack hands‑on exposure to these platforms. This study fills that gap by assessing BulSU hospitality management students’technological readiness and deriving specific pedagogical recommendations for integrating industry‑standard PMS training into the curriculum. The study utilized descriptive survey research to gather insights from Bulacan State University hospitality management students. The questionnaire shared with the students identified and determined their technological readiness for such management systems that businesses in their field are utilizing. Upon gathering data from the students, they are more aware and familiar with point-of-sales systems compared to Opera, Fidelio, and Abacus, which are other types of management systems used in their industry. Students also believed that training to be more aware of these systems should be conducted during their 4th year in college. The acquisition and integration of such management systems in their curriculum also evidently shows that students would have a greater learning experience and an enhancement of their knowledge. In terms of the students’ technological readiness, the overall weighted mean was 4.06, which shows that, on average, hospitality management students are well-equipped and technologically prepared for what they may face in their industry after graduation in using management systems. While students demonstrate advanced general computing skills (overall mean = 4.06), their familiarity with specific PMS platforms varies, highlighting the need for targeted, hands‑on training.
