Genome assembly reveals chromosomal structures and mitochondrial characteristics in Scaphidium quadrimaculatum, indicating its evolutionary significance.
<ns3:p> Abstract We present a genome assembly from an individual male <ns3:italic>Scaphidium quadrimaculatum</ns3:italic> (shining fungus beetle; Arthropoda; Insecta; Coleoptera; Staphylinidae). The genome sequence has a total length of 1 268.46 megabases. Most of the assembly (99.02%) is scaffolded into 12 chromosomal pseudomolecules, including the X and Y sex chromosomes. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled, with a length of 19.84 kilobases. This assembly was generated as part of the Darwin Tree of Life project, which produces reference genomes for eukaryotic species found in Britain and Ireland. </ns3:p>
