The article is oriented to additive manufacturing, specifically the fused deposition modelling (FDM) 3D printing method. The effect of carbon fibers (CF) on the selected properties (mechanical and thermal) of a polyethylene terephthalate glycol (PETG) specimen prepared by utilizing the fused deposition modelling method, is investigated. First, the effect of 3D printing temperatures (from 220 °C to 265 °C in 5 °C increments) on the quality of fused deposition modelling‐printed PETG‐CF temperature and bridging tower was studied. Subsequently, the specimens were manufactured using two 3D printing orientations (horizontally and vertically) with a shape and geometry 1B for tensile tests according to the standard ISO 527‐2. The nozzle (printing) temperatures were chosen to be 230 °C and 260 °C with a heated bed temperature of 90 °C. Filament with a carbon fiber content of 20 %, two different filaments with a carbon fiber content of 10 %, and a filament PETG were selected for comparison. Based on the quality of 3D printed specimens and tensile test results, the nozzle temperature of 230 °C is better than the nozzle temperature of 260 °C. The printing was unstable at 260 °C for all filaments with carbon fibers, with material accumulating behind the nozzle. Finally, the results of PETG‐CF were compared with PETG without carbon fibers.
