This research examines the historical roots of contemporary governance challenges in Egypt within the broader context of African studies. A survey-based approach was employed to gather data from a diverse sample of Egyptian scholars and policy analysts, focusing on historical archives and contemporary governance practices. The analysis reveals that the institutional legacy inherited from colonial administrations continues to impact decision-making processes in Egypt today, with significant proportions (45%) attributing these challenges to historical legacies. This research highlights the enduring influence of historical governance structures on current policy outcomes in Egypt. Policy recommendations include a re-evaluation of institutional frameworks and a focus on promoting inclusive governance practices that address historical imprints.
