Breast-feeding is affected by exercise in infants, suggesting nutrition and emotional factors impact lactation.
In Reply.— We are pleased with the continued interest in our breast milk and exercise studies. As the response to these studies indicates, successful lactation is an important topic. Accordingly, it is also a concern for many mothers to be able to continue to exercise during lactation. Our studies were prompted by the mothers who complained to us that their infant refused to nurse after their exercise. The mothers were not only concerned about the infant's nutrition, but the psychological aspects of nursing as well.
