Simulation-based analysis reveals how eccentricity and alignment affect cutting edge quality in machining, suggesting the need for careful design adjustments.
The preparation of cutting edges can be accomplished by employing wet abrasive jet machining, which is a process that can be adapted to the specific requirements of different machining processes. In this publication, a simulation-based approach is introduced, that enables the analysis of process deviations and their influence on cutting edge formation. The work focuses on the complex interaction between the wet abrasive jet and the resulting material removal for realistic process scenarios, while considering process variations such as eccentricity and alignment accuracy, which can have a significant impact on the resulting quality. The results demonstrate the influence of such variations on cutting edge formation and highlight the importance of deviation-aware analysis for accurate and robust cutting edge design.
