• A new, large species of Amphipoda from hadal depth. • Dorsal and medial sculpturation sets the new species apart from previously described species. The amphipod genus Epimeria comprises of hitherto 92 accepted species, of which with 19 are known from the Pacific. We here present a new species of Epimeria , from the first time from hadal depths, from the Aleutian Trench in the northern part of the North Pacific. From a depth of 6503 m this is the deepest Epimeria to record. The new species is easily recognised both by its large size of over 5 cm, as well as its coxa 4 which has a sharp mid-coxal protrusion, by having carinal bumps starting at pereon segment 1, and sharp drawn out teeth at the epimeron. An updated key to the Pacific species of Epimeria is provided.
