Micromagnetic modeling examines magnetization variations in ferromagnetic nanowires, suggesting new insights into magnetic domain formation.
Magnetic domains and magnetization variations in ferromagnetic cylinders are classic themes in nanomagnetism. The high aspect ratio of these cylinders creates an anisotropic magnetic shape that promotes the formation of longitudinal domains. On the other hand, circular symmetry allows for the use of less common regions where magnetic moments are not parallel to each other but move in a circle. All these features become even more pronounced in nanoscale wires.
