This research examines relative clauses introduced by conjunction da in Serbian, highlighting their grammatical status and properties.
In this research, we deal with the main features of the relative clause introduced by the conjunction da in Serbian. In order to provide valid answers to questions regarding the status and meaning of this clausal subtype, it is necessary to consider the grammatical status of the conjunction da, the lexical-semantic and grammatical features of the antecedent, and the co-referential relationship between the antecedent and the predicate of the dependent clause. This is all the more important if we consider that, in cases of pronominal or adverbial type of conjunction of the relative clause, this unit is part of the grammatical structure of the clause, which is not the case when it comes to the conjunction da. Also, given the marginal status of the relative clause with da, when determining its distributive properties, it is important to take into consideration the lexicogrammatical structure of the governing clause, with particular reference to the features of its predicate.
