Evaluation compares mechanical properties of lithium-ion battery electrodes, suggesting binder impact on performance.
To evaluate the performance of binders in lithium-ion battery electrodes, we compared mechanical property evaluations using nanoindentation and SAICAS. As a result, differences in property values were observed between the two methods, despite the small binder blend ratio. This indicates that the soft binder has a significant impact on the mechanical properties. Furthermore, due to differences in the amount of deformation used for evaluation, nanoindentation is presumed to obtain mechanical properties in the early stages of deformation, while SAICAS is used to obtain mechanical properties in the final stages of deformation.
