Evaluates computational efficiency and accuracy of shape optimization methods for vibration reduction in structures with Kelvin-Voigt damping, suggesting optimal designs.
Vibration can cause safety issues and abnormal noise in machinery and structures, necessitating countermeasures. In addition to installing dampers, vibration suppression can also be achieved through structural shape optimization. This study aims to develop an efficient method for determining the optimal shape that can most effectively reduce vibration in structures equipped with Kelvin-Voigt type dampers. To achieve this, shape optimization using the H1 gradient method is conducted with three approaches: a direct method, a modal method, and a modal method without considering damper stiffness during the modal analysis process. The computational accuracy and time required for each approach are then compared.
